It’s all too easy to miss this jewel of a village, tucked away out of sight from the busy A72 Lanark to Hamilton road and almost encircled by a wide curve of the River Clyde. This drawing is of Kirk Road, leading down towards the category A listed village kirk built 1655 and dedicated to Saint Serf.
The name Dalserf comes from the old Gaelic word ‘dail’ meaning field and the church may be built on the site of an earlier church founded by St Serf.
The tiny cottages are ablaze with colourful flowers and on most Saturdays in the summer months, teas, coffees and delicious cakes are served in the hall nearby.
